Woody Is Back And Creepier-Cuter Than Ever – Meet Nova Scotia’s Most Famous Christmas Tree

The holiday season has officially begun in Nova Scotia, because Woody the Talking Christmas Tree is back at Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth.

Shoppers and families packed the mall on Saturday morning to help “wake up” the beloved tree during his annual return celebration.
Santa Claus himself led the crowd in a sing-along with chants of “Wake up, Woody!” and “It’s time to rise and shine!”

Right on cue, Woody opened his eyes, lit up, and greeted guests for the first time this season.

A Festive Kickoff at Mic Mac Mall

To celebrate Woody’s grand wake-up, Mic Mac Mall hosted a full holiday pyjama party featuring:

  • Free face painting
  • Glitter tattoos
  • Live entertainment
  • Holiday activities for kids
  • A viewing of the Boston Christmas Tree
  • A giant holiday card for families in Boston to sign

Crowds lined all three levels of the mall, filling the atrium to catch a glimpse of Woody’s first appearance of 2025.

A Nova Scotia Icon With International Fame

Woody originally disappeared in 2006 and made his highly anticipated comeback in 2021. Since then, he has become one of Atlantic Canada’s most recognizable holiday traditions.

His unique look and nostalgic charm have captured international attention, even earning him a shoutout from Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

Every year, his return draws thousands of visitors and sparks waves of holiday content across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
