Prince Edward Island is packed with incredible locally owned businesses, so we decided to ask the people who know them best.
We recently asked our Good Day PEI audience to recommend their favourite small businesses across the Island, and the responses came pouring in.
From cafés and bakeries to restaurants, markets, local makers and unique Island experiences, dozens of businesses were nominated.
A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to vote, tag a business and share their favourites. ❤️
Based on the nominations we received, these were 10 of the most recommended PEI businesses by our audience.
1. Tide & Tales
Tide & Tales received three recommendations from our audience, putting it among the most-mentioned businesses in our poll.
The PEI spot combines three things under one roof: a bistro, café and bookstore. Visitors can stop in for coffee and fresh baked goods, browse for a new book or sit down for a meal featuring local ingredients.
2. Tea & Tales PEI
Tea & Tales PEI was another audience favourite, receiving three separate recommendations.
Our followers clearly wanted to make sure this local business made the list, with multiple people independently tagging the account when asked which PEI small businesses deserved some love.
3. Black & White Café and Bistro
Black & White Café and Bistro in St. Peters Bay was one of several businesses tied with two recommendations.
The café serves breakfast and lunch along with pastries, specialty coffees, iced drinks and other grab-and-go options. It is located at 5549 St. Peters Road in St. Peters Bay.
4. Blend and Brew
Souris also received plenty of love from our audience.
Blend and Brew Smoothies and Coffee is located at 5 Main Street in Souris and is listed in the Town of Souris business directory as one of the community’s local eateries.
The business received two recommendations from our readers.

5. Charlottetown Farmers’ Market
It probably isn’t surprising to see the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market make the list.
The non-profit co-operative brings together local farmers, makers, artisans and food businesses and operates year-round on Saturdays. The market is currently operating from a temporary location at 614 North River Road.
It received two recommendations from our audience, but shopping here also gives visitors the chance to support many PEI businesses at once.
6. Cordial Picnics
For something completely different, our audience also nominated Cordial Picnics.
The PEI company creates styled luxury picnic experiences for everything from birthdays and anniversaries to proposals, bridal showers and casual get-togethers. The business says it has been creating picnic experiences across PEI since 2021.
Cordial Picnics received two recommendations.
7. Fat Cat Bakery
Fat Cat Bakery was another repeat recommendation.
Located in Charlottetown, Fat Cat Bakery is listed as a local bakery and food business at 447 University Avenue.
If you’re building a PEI small-business bucket list, this is another locally recommended stop to add.
8. Larkin Farms
Larkin Farms also picked up multiple nominations from the Good Day PEI audience.
Two different commenters recommended the business, earning it a place among the most-mentioned businesses in our responses.
9. Messy Crow Studio
Messy Crow Studio in Souris is a particularly fun pick for anyone who loves locally made art.
Artist Lisa Freeman creates needle-felted pieces using PEI wool, with work inspired by Island beaches, sunsets and wildlife. The studio also showcases items including framed artwork, cards and dimensional felt creations.
Messy Crow received two recommendations from our audience.
10. North Lake Boathouse Eatery
Rounding out the top 10 is North Lake Boathouse Eatery in eastern PEI.
Located at 67 Cape Road in North Lake, the restaurant serves locally sourced seafood, meat and fresh produce, with both indoor dining and an outdoor deck.

So Many PEI Businesses Were Recommended
This list barely scratches the surface.
Several other businesses received multiple votes, while dozens more were nominated at least once. The response really showed just how many locally owned businesses people love supporting across Prince Edward Island.
And because several businesses finished with the same number of nominations, this isn’t meant to be a definitive ranking of the “best” businesses in PEI. It’s a snapshot of the businesses our audience recommended when we asked them to share their favourites.
