Nova Scotia is getting another major luxury golf destination, and this one will stretch across a massive 2,500 acres of countryside.
Cabot, the company behind the internationally known Cabot Cape Breton resort in Inverness, has officially announced Cabot Wilds, a new all-season golf and resort destination being developed in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia.
The property will be located in Collingwood Corner, just outside Oxford, in the foothills of the Cobequid Mountains. Cabot says the destination is expected to welcome preview golf play in 2027, while its September announcement describes the broader resort as coming in late 2027.
And golf is only one part of what is planned.
Cabot Wilds Will Cover 2,500 Acres
Cabot Wilds is being developed in partnership with Canadian businessman John Bragg and his family, the founders of Oxford Frozen Foods.
The sprawling property sits among rolling countryside, maple forests and wild blueberry fields, with the River Philip running through the area.
Cabot describes it as an all-season destination designed to showcase a different side of Nova Scotia from its oceanfront Cape Breton property.
At the centre of the development will be a new 18-hole riverfront golf course designed by Canadian golf architect Jeff Mingay. The course is planned to wind through forests and blueberry fields while interacting with the River Philip throughout the round.
There Will Be Much More Than Golf
Plans for Cabot Wilds include a clubhouse, dining experiences, a recreation pavilion, racquet sports facilities, wellness and spa facilities and residential real estate.
The clubhouse is expected to have an indoor-outdoor restaurant and bar, private dining room, social lawn, pro shop and locker rooms.
The wellness facilities are planned to include treatments, thermal therapies and quiet mindfulness spaces.
Cabot is also leaning heavily into the property’s natural surroundings.
Guests are expected to have access to activities including:
- Hiking and mountain biking
- Wild blueberry picking
- Fishing experiences, including opportunities connected to the salmon-rich River Philip
- Access to snowmobile trails
- Skiing and other winter activities in the surrounding region
One clarification from the viral post: Cabot specifically says thermal therapies, rather than announcing a standalone “thermal spa.” It also describes access to snowmobile trails rather than simply listing “snowmobiling” as a resort facility.
You’ll Even Be Able To Own A Cottage There
Cabot Wilds isn’t being planned solely as a hotel or golf resort.
A limited collection of residential real estate is also being offered, including two-, four- and eight-bedroom cottages, as well as building lots with views of the golf course, hills or river.
The cottages are planned with features including fireplaces, large kitchen and dining spaces and covered porches.
It’s Cabot’s Second Major Nova Scotia Destination
The project is particularly notable because it brings Cabot back to the province where the brand began.
Cabot already operates Cabot Cape Breton in Inverness, home to Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs. The company has since expanded internationally, but Cabot Wilds will give it another major destination within Nova Scotia.
Unlike the dramatic oceanfront landscape that defines Cabot Cape Breton, the new property is being designed around inland Nova Scotia, with forests, rolling hills, blueberry fields and the River Philip forming the backdrop.
When Will Cabot Wilds Open?
Cabot’s official website currently says preview play will begin in 2027, while the company’s September 15 announcement says the 2,500-acre destination is coming in late 2027.
So while some details could change as construction continues, the project itself is confirmed and development is underway.
With a new 18-hole golf course, luxury cottages, restaurants, wellness facilities and year-round outdoor activities planned across 2,500 acres, Cabot Wilds could become one of Nova Scotia’s biggest new tourism developments when it opens.
