A Huge Pottery Market With 25+ Ceramic Artists Is Taking Over Mahone Bay This Weekend

If handmade mugs, colourful ceramics and one-of-a-kind pottery are your thing, there’s a brand-new market happening in Nova Scotia this weekend.

The first-ever Nova Scotia Pottery Market is taking over the Mahone Bay Centre on Sunday, October 4, 2026, bringing together more than 25 curated ceramic artists from across Nova Scotia and the Maritimes for one massive day of pottery shopping.

Even better, admission is completely free.

Nova Scotia’s First Pottery Market Is Happening This Weekend

The inaugural Nova Scotia Pottery Market will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Mahone Bay Centre at 45 School Street.

The market is all about celebrating the incredible ceramic artists working throughout Atlantic Canada, while giving visitors a chance to actually meet the people making the pieces and shop directly from them.

There will be everything from functional everyday pottery like mugs and bowls to sculptural pieces, wood-fired ceramics and completely one-of-a-kind creations.

So if your cupboards somehow always have room for another handmade mug, this could be a dangerous place to visit.

More Than 25 Potters Are Coming Together

The official event listing says more than 25 ceramic artists from across the region will be participating, with a mix of different styles, techniques and experience levels.

The event’s promotional materials include makers like Maritime Ceramics, Wave Ceramics, Two Fishes Pottery, Birdsall-Worthington Pottery, Heartwood & Clay Creations, South Pottery Art, Stacey McRae and several others.

That means you’ll be able to browse a pretty huge variety of locally and regionally made ceramics all under one roof.

It’s Part Of Mahone Bay’s Scarecrow Festival

And there’s another reason to make a day trip out of it.

The pottery market is happening in partnership with the annual Mahone Bay Scarecrow Festival, so the town will already be filled with fall festivities this weekend.

On Saturday, October 3, the festival schedule includes the Mahone Bay Makers Market and Nova Scotia Fruit Pie Baking Contest & Sale. Then on Sunday, the pottery market takes over the Mahone Bay Centre, while the Shantymen of Mahone Bay are scheduled to perform at the Bandstand at 1 p.m.

Between the pottery, scarecrows, shops, cafés and waterfront, it could make for a pretty perfect fall day in Mahone Bay.
