Justin Bieber Used This Iconic Newfoundland Song In A Recent Post & People Are Freaking Out

Justin Bieber just gave Newfoundland one of the most unexpected shoutouts of 2026.

The Canadian superstar shared a recent post on Instagram featuring a collection of photos from his life with Hailey Bieber and their son, Jack.

But for people in Newfoundland and Labrador, it wasn’t necessarily the photos that caught their attention.

It was the song.

Bieber used “I’se the B’y,” the iconic traditional Newfoundland folk song, as the audio for the post.

And naturally, Newfoundlanders noticed.

Justin Bieber Used “I’se the B’y” On Instagram

Bieber shared the post on October 3, giving his followers a glimpse at some recent family moments, including an outing where the family interacted with kangaroos and a giraffe.

Playing over the carousel was a song that would be instantly recognizable to a whole lot of people on Canada’s East Coast: “I’se the B’y.”

The traditional Newfoundland folk song is one of the province’s best-known songs and has been performed and recorded in numerous versions over the years.

So hearing it attached to an Instagram post from one of the biggest pop stars in the world was definitely unexpected.

Newfoundlanders Immediately Noticed

It didn’t take long for the song choice to get attention online.

In a Reddit discussion about Bieber’s October 3 post, one fan from Newfoundland specifically celebrated his choice of “I’se the B’y.”

It’s a small detail in an otherwise casual celebrity Instagram post, but for people familiar with the song, it made for a pretty great Newfoundland moment.

Bieber has an enormous international following, meaning a traditional song so closely associated with Newfoundland was suddenly being heard by people around the world.

“I’se the B’y” Is A Newfoundland Classic

For anyone outside Atlantic Canada wondering why the song choice is such a big deal, “I’se the B’y” is about as Newfoundland as it gets.

The traditional folk song includes references to Newfoundland communities including Fogo, Twillingate, Moreton’s Harbour and Bonavista.

It has remained a recognizable part of Newfoundland folk culture for generations and was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005.

And now it can apparently be added to Justin Bieber’s Instagram soundtrack.

Bieber Has Some Serious Canadian Roots

Of course, Bieber choosing a Canadian folk song isn’t completely out of left field.

The Ontario-born singer has become one of Canada’s most internationally recognizable musicians.

Still, a traditional Newfoundland folk song probably isn’t what most people expected to hear while scrolling through one of his Instagram posts.

Bieber hasn’t publicly explained why he chose “I’se the B’y” for the post, leaving us with one very important question:

How exactly did a Newfoundland folk classic end up on Justin Bieber’s playlist?

Either way, Newfoundland noticed.

And considering the size of Bieber’s international audience, “I’se the B’y” just got a pretty incredible moment in the spotlight.
