If your perfect fall day involves pumpkins, a corn maze and homemade ice cream, there’s a New Brunswick farm where you can find all three.
Trueman Blueberry Farms in Aulac, near Sackville, is celebrating fall with its annual Fall Festival, transforming the farm into a full autumn destination on weekends.
Visitors can wander through a corn maze, take a wagon ride, pick a pumpkin straight from the patch and then stop at the farm stand for freshly baked treats and handcrafted ice cream.
And the farm’s ice cream is actually made right on site.
There’s A U-Pick Pumpkin Patch
One of the highlights of fall at Trueman Farms is its U-pick pumpkin patch.
Instead of grabbing a pumpkin from a grocery store, visitors can head out into the field and choose one themselves.
The farm grows its own pumpkins and welcomes visitors to the patch as part of its seasonal fall experience. (Trueman Blueberry Farms)
It’s also a pretty perfect excuse for a fall road trip, especially once the leaves around southeastern New Brunswick begin changing colour.
You Can Get Lost In A Corn Maze
Of course, it wouldn’t be a fall farm without a corn maze.
Trueman Farms’ Fall Festival includes its corn maze along with wagon rides out to the maze and other activities spread throughout the farm.
There are also straw bales, barnyard bowling, a hay bale climb, sunflower fields and other outdoor activities included with Fall Festival admission. (Trueman Blueberry Farms)
The Fall Festival is currently running Saturdays and Sundays.
The Ice Cream Is Made Right On The Farm
Here’s where this place gets even better.
Trueman Farms makes its own handcrafted small-batch ice cream on site using local cream.
Many of the flavours incorporate ingredients grown right on the farm, and even the waffle cones are freshly baked on site each day. (Trueman Blueberry Farms)
The flavours change throughout the seasons depending on available ingredients, so you might find something different depending on when you visit.
The farm also makes handcrafted ice cream cakes.
There’s A Farm Bakery Too
If it’s too chilly for ice cream, you can head inside the farm stand for something freshly baked instead.
Trueman Farms has its own farm bakery with a changing selection of baked goods.
The farm stand also carries seasonal produce, local products, honey and homemade preserves made in small batches using fruit from the farm and other local growers.
Basically, you could come for the pumpkin patch and leave with dessert, preserves and a box of farm treats.
This Farm Has Been Around For Generations
There’s also quite a bit of history behind the property.
The Trueman family says it has been farming on the Chignecto Isthmus since 1775, with eight generations of the family working the land over the centuries.
Today, the property has evolved into a destination with U-pick crops, a farm market, homemade ice cream and seasonal festivals while continuing to operate as a working farm.
Add This New Brunswick Farm To Your Fall Bucket List
Between the U-pick pumpkins, corn maze, wagon rides, farm bakery and homemade ice cream, Trueman Farms has pretty much everything you need for a fall afternoon.
The Fall Festival runs on weekends, while the farm stand is currently open Wednesday through Sunday.
